Back in 2010, Louis C.K. appeared on the Lopez Tonight show and shared a harrowing story, albeit in his typical laid back manner.
It’s a great example of his comedic style: a matter-of-fact, acceptance-of-the-situation awareness, wrapped in a sweaty, panicky body, stuck inside an exceptionally common situation suddenly turned awkward or heightened. In this case, it is heightened to the degree of life or death.
All of it was supposedly set to the calming sounds of Simon and Garfunkle’s “The Boxer” – which, whether technically true or not, adds so much to the story.
We also learn that gang signs aren’t all that intimidating when you don’t know them. A lesson to all the gangbangers out there: Marketing, guys. Build your brand.
And also, please leave Louis C.K. alone, because he is hilarious and we need more episode of Louie or our lives won’t feel as complete.
