It’s back to 1986 for this Ontario, Canadian family. Blair McMillan and his girlfriend, Morgan Patey, have sent themselves back to the year they were both born, taking their two sons, Trey, 5, and Denton, 2, with them.

McMillian says he was tired of seeing his kids become technology zombies.
“Our two-year-old was able to swipe and mimic us on the cell phone, which they do a lot, but he was learning how to play the games because Trey would always be playing the games,” said McMillan.
“My 5-year-old would almost associate family with what mobile phone they had in their pockets. Say, for instance, an uncle would come and he knew he had an iPhone, he would see him, do a quick hello and reach into his pocket because he would want to play on his mobile games.”
So he took the only logical next step: moved to a house built in the ’80s, packed away all pre-1986 technology, put on some denim cutoffs, and set himself and his boys up with some bitchin’ mullets.
No, seriously, that is exactly what he did.
The oldest boy is allowed a bit of old school Nintendo time, and other than that their biggest entertainment system appears to be an old AM/FM boombox radio.
Instead of Facebook, they rely on mailing developed film photographs to relatives in order to stay in touch.
The couple credits this lifestyle change with bringing their family closer together, and making them more active. One imagines there would have been less severe ways to meet that end, but at least it is having a positive effect. Although maybe not fashion-wise.
The family plans on living this way for a full year, when they will go back to the future.
