Considering South Carolina Senator Lee Bright has been a vocal supporter of the Confederate flag remaining on the Capital grounds, you’d think he’d have a lot to say about the issue when he stepped up to the podium during the debate yesterday.
Bright, who has been running a fundraising campaign featuring Confederate flag bumper stickers with the message “Keep Your Hands Off My Flag!” online, decided to forgo any mention of the controversial symbol of the Confederate States. Instead he went off on his objection to same-sex marriage.
“Friday night I watched The White House be lit up in the abomination colors!” Bright said, continually calling for “the church” to “rise up.”
“Romans Chapter 1 is clear. The Bible is clear. This nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, and they are under assault by men in black robes who were not elected by you,” Bright went on, calling their actions in legalizing same-sex marriage “tyranny.”
“We can rally together and talk about a flag all we want,” Bright continued, his voice breaking, perhaps from emotion, “but the devil is taking control of this land and we’re not stopping him!”
