Priscilla Presley has reportedly quit Scientology after nearly four decades in the religion she joined after her husband, Elvis Presley. She reached out to friend John Travolta at the time, one of the church’s most high profile members and defenders, who got her into it as well.
“I’ve had enough. I’m done,” Presley has reportedly told friends.
She raised her daughter, Lisa Marie, in the church, who reportedly went after Scientology for its human rights abuses and its disconnection policy, which tears families apart.
Journalist and author Tony Ortega talks about how Lisa Marie obtained and delivered damaging documents about the church to media outlets in the video below. She calls her possibly the biggest problem Scientology leader David Miscavige has in keeping the beleaguered church afloat.
