Kurt and Courtney Documentary by Nick Broomfield (1998)
Kurt Cobain died in 1994 at the age of 27. It was ruled a suicide, but a theory soon emerged that Cobain may have been murdered. This theory was furthered by private investigator Tom Grant, who is featured heavily in the film. Grant was hired by Courtney Love after Cobain escaped from rehab and went missing.
Grant believes Cobain was murdered. He questions whether Love may have hired a hit man to take out the musician, who may have been planning to divorce Love.
Documentarian Nick Broomfield looks into the allegation, and attempts to solve the mystery of what happened to Cobain in Kurt and Courtney. Was it suicide or murder? And if he was killed, who is responsible?
Grant interviews an impressively wide array of Cobain associates, getting access that is almost unbelievable. It provides a unique insight into his life, and proves that Broomfield is a brave filmmaker.
